A NEW KIND OF POOL GAME

Pacific Minesweeper is a billiards game at heart, with a twist: the table lies at the bottom of the Pacific, your white cue ball is a remotely guided probe, and the 6 numbered balls are sea mines to clear. If you can play pool, you already know how to aim - the rest is strategy.

HOW TO PLAY

Aim with the mouse, the keyboard or a controller: a guide line shows where the probe goes, which mine it hits and where that mine will roll. Hold the button to charge the power bar and release to shoot. Pot all 6 mines to clear the level; a new table awaits.

SCORE AND STRATEGY

Each of the 6 pockets carries a multiplier from x1 to x6, and the multipliers move on to the next pocket at every level. A mine scores level x mine number x pocket multiplier x 10: the right mine in the right pocket is worth many times a lucky one.

SHOTS AND LIVES

Shots are limited: 6 on levels 1-3, 5 on levels 4-6, 4 on levels 7-14 and 3 from level 15 on. Every shot that pots no mine costs one; potting a mine gives them all back. You start with 4 lives: potting the probe, missing every mine or running out of shots costs one - and when they are gone, the game is over.

CHOOSE YOUR CAPTAIN

Each captain changes the rules their own way, so your choice sets your play style. A game keeps the captain it started with.

Cpt. Valeria Moreau - Tactical ("Salvager")

• Every time you pot a mine, the shots you had left (that shot not counted) are salvaged: they go on top of the level's shots.

• Salvaged shots stay with you from level to level.

• Never more than 9 shots in all.

• Losing a life drops them.

• Starts with 4 lives and cannot earn more.

A patient strategist who never wastes a shot: every shot saved today is an advantage tomorrow.

Cpt. Douglas Blackwood - Aggressive ("Sea Legs")

• Clear a level with every shot at full power (the power bar at its very top) and no life lost: +1 life.

• One weaker shot, or a lost life, ends the chance for that level.

• Starts with 4 lives; no limit to the lives earned.

Fearless and loud: he hits every mine as hard as he can, and the sea rewards his nerve.

Cpt. Kinetic AI - Mathematical ("Harpooner")

• Clear a level potting at least one mine with every strike and no life lost: +1 life.

• A strike that pots no mine, or a lost life, ends the chance for that level.

• Starts with 4 lives; no limit to the lives earned.

A calculating mind: every strike must count, or the equation fails.

GLASS CUSHIONS

The cushions are glass. Hit them too hard and they crack - in 3 stages, each giving the balls a little less bounce. Every level starts with whole glass.

COMPETE

Your best score goes to the worldwide Hall of Fame on Steam. Achievements reward the first 6 levels cleared. Fair play: games played with modified game files do not count.
